Construction is changing

There was  time when you could run a construction site like a little empire.  You could order your skilled trades and your sub contractors about and they had little choice but to do as you demanded.

Now, the best of those skilled trades have other general contractors trying to hire them away and the sub trades have bid on too many jobs for the resources they have.  If you kick them off your site, they can still send their people to other job sites.

If you introduce a communication style of leadership, that is a beginning.  To really get ahead of the industry, consider the ideas in this article from The Generals spring 2006 issue.

An McR representative will be glad to meet with you to help you determine if the idea of Critical Chain (not critical path) can work in your company.

 What Management are
saying about

Results Centred Leadership™

for Construction:

I would recommend this program to owners and senior management of companies. Through this program, I learned to use the concept of SMART goal setting to expedite project target dates and the importance of proactive planning in avoiding crisis management.  This led to developing one of my superintendents abilities so that he actually shortened a project by 20 days. - Owner Toronto construction company

Through the use of the One-on-one meetings, we now have a more productive team. We have better relationships within our team and an even more positive approach to projects.  -
Senior Estimator of an Ontario Construction company

I have become a more effective leader. Projects are running smoother, staff are taking on more responsibility and they ask questions about how to be more proactive.  This course had a lot of practical solutions to problems that everybody faces.
- Senior VP of an Ontario Construction company

This program "helped me focus on how to grow my company and my staff and how to delegate responsibilities to facilitate growth". Owner of a Design Build construction company
